Where We Were

Twenty-eight years ago today the world learned of Elvis's passing. It was one of those events where most normal folks remember where they were and what they were doing when they heard the news. I'm no different - August 16th, 1977 I was seven years old.

I remember that it was hot and I was riding my bicycle in front of my house. You know - back in the day when parents didn't really think twice about sending their small children out front in the street to do whatever for hours at a time.

Anyway, a friend from next door came out to ride in my circle and said, "Hey, did you hear that Elvis died?" I then promptly retorted, "Who's Elvis?"

That's it folks! I was a completely musically ignorant 7 year old.
